Our goal is to provide your worship team with tools that will help them take their own singing to the highest level and lead the congregation in inspired worship. That’s where Christy Sutherland comes in.
She explains the mechanics of good singing in practical terms, using techniques that translate easily to all skill levels. Her approach to voice technique draws upon strong muscles of the body to take pressure off the neck and throat and allow both body and voice to resonate freely.
Special techniques for phrasing that involve creative use of consonants and rhythm show you how to bring out the deepest meaning in whatever you sing or say so you connect with your congregation in a powerful way. (Great tool for the pastor too!)
During the decade Christy Sutherland has spent in Nashville she garnered two major-label recording contracts, Giant and Sony records, and had multiple appearances on the Grand Ole Opry.
She held a staff writing position at Universal, one of the most successful publishing companies on Music Row. Her songs have been recorded by several top Christian singers, including “I Believe,” Rizen, and “You Call Me Yours,” recorded by Sandi Patty and Prelude, as well as published in Word and Lifeway worship publications.
An accomplished voice coach, for twelve years she has taught under the auspices of Renee Grant-Williams’ Voice Studio where she has given instruction to a number of signed recording artists including Kim Carnes, Jason Michael Carroll, Julie Roberts, Matraca Berg, and Jeff Hanna.
Christy’s deep and abiding faith has sustained this singer-songwriter all her life, from her first public performance in church, to the winning of a national Christian music talent contest, to a featured role on Christian Television. She travels and performs Contemporary Christian music. Her latest recording is titled “You Call Me Yours.”
I was thoroughly impressed with the voice training seminar that Christy Sutherland provided for our praise team. I love that she started the seminar by simply focusing on God, and what the Bible has to say about worship, and reminding our team that worship doesn’t just happen on Sunday mornings, but that we should spend time worshipping God daily.
